Blendshape Artist
Maya, mental ray, Photoshop, ZBrush
June 2009

OK, I finally decided to render this concept that has been on my mind for some time now. The idea was to visualize the different process of a CG artist as is they were done
in the real world. It always looked funny to me picturing a guy really cutting and sawing and twisting the real flesh to create the different blend shapes of a face. It somehow looses
all the artistic sense and becomes horrible almost psycho (it reminded me for some reason the "Silence of the Lamps", creating clothes from human skin, that's the reason for the poster on the wall). So this was the
first one from a series of a few I have in mind. The one that I'm thinking of starting next is called the "Technical Director" and in the same concept, there is a guy
working with real bones and muscles to create a Frankenstein-like human. I also decided to play a little bit with the tools that a Blendshape Artist would use but converting
them into real life objects. So there's a cube made of wires representing what a Lattice tool in Maya would look like, there's also a "Paint Weights Glue" container in the foreground and stuff like that. It took me
about a month to finish it (working only on the little time we get on weekends of course). Phew i wrote a lot, OK so, I hope you guys find it funny and hope you like it. Critic PLS.
